AwoooUbe Jam Brings Filipino Music, Flavour and Halloween Fun to Amsterdam

Organised by Pamana World owner Rhea Topacio, the October 31 gathering brought together band impersonations, colourful costumes and ube products.

At AwoooUbe Jam, musicians performed in character while displays of ube products gave the Amsterdam gathering its culinary theme. Onstage and around the food tables, Filipino creativity took different forms.

Held on October 31, 2026, the event was organised by Rhea Topacio, owner of Pamana World. Amsterdam hosted the second leg of Ube Jam following an earlier edition in London, combining a celebration of ube with a Filipino band impersonation competition.

The competition gave participating groups an opportunity to pay tribute to their favourite bands through music and impersonation. Screwdrayber took home the €300 prize in the band impersonation competition, which also featured Overrun, Daloy and Hugot Band. Beverly’s Playground gave a special performance of ’70s Manila Sound.

Photographs from the gathering capture the visual character of the performances. Orange-tinted glasses, retro clothing and a sailor outfit featured alongside guitars, microphones and drums. One singer paired a brown jacket with jeans and a loosely tied scarf; another played an electric guitar while wearing a dark blazer and sunglasses.

Paige won the night’s best costume award, wearing a bee ensemble with a bubble pot. Other guests posed for photos against the Manila Nights backdrop. Costumes and accessories added humour and theatricality to the occasion.

Ube beyond the dessert table

Ube provided both part of the event’s name and its food focus. Pamana World’s product range includes ice cream, ube flavouring, syrup and pure ube powder.

It was a family affair for Rhea, whose husband and daughter joined her at the Pamana World display. All three wore matching tracksuits in purple, pink and green, adding their own Halloween touch to the table of ube products.

The displays placed Filipino products within the same setting as the musical performances, bringing the event’s food-and-music concept into view.

A gathering shaped by participation

The photographs also capture moments away from the performances: people leaning towards one another for group pictures, costumed guests posing with friends and participants gathering around the displays.

These scenes give the event a personal dimension beyond the competition. Alongside the musicians’ performances, the outfits, props and shared photographs show the different ways people took part.

Following its London edition, Ube Jam brought its combination of Filipino food and music to Amsterdam. The October gathering gave that concept a playful expression through band impersonations, ube products and the creativity of its participants.
